It is very important that you make sure all power supply to your computer is disconnected before replacing or installing an internal desktop computer sound card. If all power is not disconnected before attempting to replace or install an internal desktop computer sound card there may be an electrical surge which could result in your being harmed as well as your computer being ruined. So once you've disconnected the power from your computer remove the chassis from the tower and lay the tower on its side.

Some computer towers have an external desktop computer sound card and you can just slide the computer sound card in and out as needed. Different desktop pc sound cards may require slightly different installation; refer to the manufacturer's directions on the soundcard package for specific installation instructions.
